The 2023 Toyota Sequoia gets a new hybrid powertrain, a new frame based on the Tundra, and an updated look both inside and out. The three-row body-on-frame SUV is now a hybrid-only model, but it’s also the most powerful Sequoia to date. Car & Driver

PROS: Handsome new styling, powerful and relatively efficient hybrid powertrain, quiet cabin.

CONS: Rear-seat headroom is limited, feels unwieldy to drive, third row of seats don’t fold flat into the floor.

VERDICT: The 2023 Sequoia’s makeover brings it closer to its large SUV rivals, but we wish Toyota had paid more attention to practicality and driving verve.

PROS: Big and Powerful. i-Force Max 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine steals the show. Making 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque between the gas V-6 and an electric motor.

CONS: Weak on Ride and Refinement

VERDICT: For the price, this hybrid trails other large 3-row SUVs in too many ways

PROS: Powerful Hybrid Engine

CONS: Larger wheel sizes on uplevel trims (especially the 22-inchers on the range-topping Capstone model) compromise ride quality somewhat.

VERDICT: Although it’s too early to tell whether it could beat the Ford Expedition or Chevrolet Tahoe in a direct showdown, the Sequoia has at least caught up to the present.

CONS: Seating space and cargo room.  Relatively small third row and less cargo space than rivals

VERDICT: The 2023 Toyota Sequoia’s is ranked #6 within the Large SUVs category. Currently the Toyota Sequoia has an overall rating 7.1 out of 10.
